If you intend to continue manual operation pull the cord toward the door which will keep it from reconnecting to the carriage.
I have pulled red cord on my garage door.
The trolley moves along the chain drive the long track attached to the ceiling when the garage door is opening or closing attached via a metal.
The emergency release cord is attached to the door trolley which is the piece that stays with the garage door.

Once the lever is in the opposite location push the button again.
Push up on it and it should snap into place.

There are several reasons why you may have to pull the cord thereby disengaging the garage door from the opener.

You will hear a click.
The trolley is connected to the door and moves with the door as it opens and closes.
There s usually a little lever that the string attaches to.
If it is working properly your door should close or open without any problems.
The trolley sits on the opener carriage.
At that point push the button for the operator and when the trolley meets with the carriage the 2 will be connected.
The final step is to push the button to see if it works.
Step 3 be sure to leave garage door closed when not in use.
You need to begin opening or dlosing the garage door.
