Simply rub the teeth of the key with a sharp pencil until the surface is covered with graphite.
Wd 40 is the best.
Use powdered graphite to lubricate the lock cylinder.
Test the lock after each application.
Spray until all the dirt is flushed from the assembly and then let the latchbolt assembly lie on the newspaper or towels until all the excess lubricant has dripped off.
Use the wd 40 for latches and hinges on the glove box and gas tank cover.
This will crush up the graphite and allow it to lubricate the lock.
You also should use this spray on the front and rear door hinges.

You can use more graphite if needed to keep it lubricated.

This will not break your lock it will only break up the graphite.
