Tightening your garage door chain is a simple matter of turning the right nut.
The one you re looking for is attached to a bolt found at the spot where the trolley or carriage connects to the rail.
The trolley is responsible for pushing or pulling the opener arm along the chain so as to open and close the garage door.
Using your wrench you can start to loosen up the adjusting nut on the side of your carriage closest to the opener head.
Adjust it tight enough so that the center of the chain sags about 1 2 down from parallel with the track graphic below right.
Turn it counterclockwise holding the other nut in your hand to prevent it from turning.
The chain is a very important component that makes up a garage door opener system.
Do not over tighten the chain.
This will cause premature wear on the chain rollers.
Then use the wrench to tighten this second nut clockwise until the chain is tighter but not so taut that it is completely inflexible.
The garage door opener loose chain or tight chain can be an easy diy.
