This plate is known as a rose and can almost always be removed by hand.
To reassemble snap the rose back on the chassis depress the release button and slide the knob back on until the button pops through the hole.

Step 3 slide the cosmetic faceplate away from the door.

Expose hidden set screws.
Try twisting or pulling the rose away from the door to expose the screws.
With round doorknobs though you may need to remove the knob in order to make the faceplate mounting screws accessible to your screwdriver.
Now that the backing plate and screws are exposed tighten the long screws that run through the backing plate.
If that is the case use a screwdriver instead of an allen wrench.
Tighten the door hardware by opening the door squeezing both sides of the assembly together and tightening the two screws on the chassis.
The detent is a spring activated pin concealed or small thin plate attached to the spindle that protrudes into a doorknob notch which prevents rotation.
Snap the trim ring back onto the backing plate.
Insert and slide the lever back onto the spindle.
