Texturing finished drywall is one way to add character to a room and depending on the texture pattern you want you can usually do it yourself.
How to texture your bathroom walls.
Texture walls raise visual interest in your home by raising the texture of your walls.
If the texture happens to be in your bathroom you may find that getting your bathroom as clean as you would like is not as easy with a textured wall as it would be with a smooth wall.
You can create a knockdown texture by applying joint compound also known as drywall compound or drywall mud to your walls or ceiling then smoothing the stalactite like peaks down with a knife.
The result is a marbled texture that can then be painted any color.
