Disconnect any optional lights and switches in the door. I was unable to find any for my year car. I wish i was able to find pictures or a video to change out my speakers. Using a suitable flat bladed tool gently pry the manual lock lever from the door trim panel.

This is a video to help some one who wants to safely remove their door panel. Remove the cap 5 covering the screw on the rear edge of the trim panel. Remove the trim panel screws. Pull the door upward and outward to disconnect it from its clips on the door and unplug any wiring harnesses behind it.

This trim piece covers the interior side of the side view mirror. When you remove the phillips screw from interior handle plastic bezel you have to then pull off that bezel and remove one more phillips behind it. This can include courtesy lights that are pried off and disconnected and heated seat switches you must pry off with the trim stick. Remove the screw 2 from within the opening where the manual door lock lever resides.

Once the two retaining caps are released pivot the top of the sail out and extract it from the bottom anchor on the door frame. Remove the push in fastener 3 at the front edge of the door trim. To remove the door panel on a chevrolet truck you need to unplug all of the electrical connectors and remove a few trim pieces.
