How to run wires in existing walls and floors.
Pull the e thernet cable to its destination and you re set.

Return to the main floor and cut out a piece of drywall where the wire will exit.
When adding or replacing wiring in finished walls most electricians will attempt to make the horizontal portion of the cable run in the unfinished attic or basement crawlspace areas looping the cable down or up through the wall cavity across the floor or ceiling joists then vertically through another stud cavity to the next wall box opening.

On the second floor run wires down the wall from the attic.

If you have access to your basement crawl space and attic you should be able to run wires without having to cut patch any drywall.
On the first floor run wires up the wall from the basement.
When necessary use existing ducts or pipe runs to get wires from the attic into the basement.
Alternatively you may run the wire down the last stud in a corner under the floor or into the basement or crawl space and then back up between the studs in the next room.

Then to the opposite action have one person feed the cables down through the hole to the destination while another person pulls the cable out from the wall.
If installing an electrical box trace the outline onto the drywall to get the exact dimensions.
